We are "Community Stars!"

To mark the first day of Spring, Rockcliffe Community Association joined with Rockcliffe First School, Age UK, The Woodland Trust and North Tyneside Council's Big Spring Clean Up to begin to create a community garden on the patch of land adjacent to Rockcliffe First School.  Having been awarded funding to encourage intergenerational work by Age UK, the association wanted to enhance the environment and create a space that could be enjoyed by all generations.  Phase one of the planting included two thousand snowdrop bulbs, three white beam trees donated by NT council and mixed saplings provided by the Woodland Trust.  Pupils from Rockcliffe First School and local residents worked together on the cool and windy afternoon.  It was great to see our residents join with the children in an effort to make our area even more beautiful.  Crocus bulbs and flowering shrubs will soon be added to the garden which was designed by our committee member and keen gardener, Sylvia.  The association has been named "Community Stars" by the council for our dedication to improving our environment.
